Shocks for 120 prado

Hi there, Im the new boy, 05 GX 4 litre 6 speed, from my reading the 120 series prado shares the front suspension with other Toyota 120 vehicles,
Hi lux, 4 runner etc but does anybody know if the front end is also shared with the Tacoma ute sold in the USA, looks very similar to the Hi lux and has the same front suspension as the FJ cruiser which is also built on the Toyota 120 platform. I can get from the US some interesting sounding Bilsteins that fit the FJ cruiser and the Tacoma, but will they fit the Prado. Mine has a Toyota factory bull bar and winch, so is nose down a bit and a little soft for off roading. Any advice?

Welcome to the forum.

There is a couple dozen threads on shocks already here, and in particular the bilsteins.
The ones sold OS are probably valved wrong to suit the prado locally. Some locals have tried doing it the cheap way and ended up apying a lot more than buying the proper ones originally. Darren from Assassin offroad is the guru on them and is a member here.

If you use the search button for Bilstein you will find a heap of information on the ones you need including part numbers and how to contact Darren.

We try not to have too many duplicate threads on the same item as it buggers up the searches when you really need that info.

Thanks for the advice /info although i have reviewed the thread on suspension I didnt find any reference to overseas sourced Bilsteins, that members have had experience with hence my question. Yes there is a large price difference, but there is currently quite a long wait for supply of Prado Bilsteins in Os as they also fit the Hi lux.!

SOOOOO what are these special part numbers & bushes???

my rears have MO after the part number. They seem to do a good enough job.

The MO part No's are std euro spec bilsteins for cruising the motorways unloaded.

Fine for std vehicle doing mainly empty hwy, but dont have anywhere near enough rebound control for a loaded vehicle on our roads.
