  • Raw suspension kit Bouncy front end ???

Installed a 2inch Raw lift kit. Hard springs in front softer in back. When I back off my gutter or a step up or even while driving and going through a dip the front end will bounce at least 3 times. Is this normal? I must say I have not noticed this before and of course the Suspension mob seems to think it's okay but is a bit suss when he also backed it off a gutter. When he bounces it up and down with his hand he says it reacts normally, what tha??? :?: :?:

how much bounce ya talking about, the first dip will always be the greatest in terms of suspension travel and then it will taper off quickly, coils will this more then leaf because of the softness of them, if the installer thinks its ok then go with them, it doesnt sound normal though. cheers samo
had an 03 gx 120 with some gear now got a 2013 bt 50 GT auto some ARB gear.

I have RAW 4x4's in the front, they were on the car when I got it, so I can't compare with standard. I have standard height and probably standard springs.
There is nothing bouncy about them that I have noticed. (I am quite sensitive to these sort of things, ie, I like things to be right)
To me they seem firm and not bouncy if dropped off my gutter or over traffic calming platforms, even at reasonable speed.

Not bouncy = compress, return, up a fraction and settle.

You could take it to pedders and get one of those drive on suspension reports but that will cost.

        To me, doesn't sound right.
Never heard of RAW kits, but they are not adjustable shocks by any chance are they ? Maybe you can stiffen them up a bit.
If not, get a second opinion.
        Cheers, Wayne

WOW just took another Prado for a drive with a Ironman Suspension 2" lift same specs and what a difference, mine feels like driving a jumping pillow after that. The owner of the other Prado would not even drive mine back. Will update when the suspension mob do further tests with them. Not good for the RAW's so far..............

RAW are sold through Fulcrum suspension as well, and if you have a Fulcrum dealer in your area they should have a shock absorber tester, which will tell you eaxactly whats going on.

But the car should chnage from ride height over a bump and go back to ride height, unless its a big bump, not continue to bob around trying to get back to ride height.

The good news is they have accepted that they maybe faulty and will replace them but I cop the labour costs of $200 to change them out and 3 weeks wait, figure that. Had not even done 20k klms. Don't know wether I would touch these again could just be unlucky.

The raws in my car were in it when I bought it, no idea how old they are, but I have done 30k klms on them and they feel firm and not bouncy at all. Not sure about them as a brand really, but they are made by/for powerdown, which have been a supplier to the trucking industry for 20+ years.

Good that they finally admitted something was up.

I wouldnt be accepting those terms, speak direct with the RAW guys perhaps, and see what they suggest.
