Looking for some advice and recommendations re: new alloy rims.
I have 6 Cooper ST/C's on the standard 120 series alloys (17"x7.5" ET30) apart from the second spare which is on a Speedy Grande. The only drawback with the set is the different nut configuration on the Speedy rim which is a 60deg tapered nut compared the usual (unusual?) Toyota nut.
I want to do the same with a set of 6 Cooper STT's that I currently run on King steel rims. There's been no drama with the King rims. In fact I have internal pneumatic beadlocks in them and have had heaps of fun running them down to as low as 6-8 psi and with mud tyres backed by twin lockers, the baby could climb just about every where and in some pretty horrible conditions.
The main reasons to go for alloys this time around is to dress up the old girl plus reduce the rotational inertia, for improved braking and fuel use as well as to lower the unsprung weight of the 120 which is particularly helpful in long hauls planned for the future involving unforgiving corrugations.
Been looking for a while in various sources but the standard alloys are hard to find (particularly 6 of them) so I'm considering a set of the ROH Trojan or Speedy Grande. It's hard to pick the Speedy rim from the standard and would be happy to go with them.
So if any PP'ers has had experience with the Speedy Grande, ROH Trojans or any other alloys to fit the bill (and rims spec's), grateful for any feedback.
