  • Up to 50mm over size now legal in Victoria?

Hi all , this is my 1st post
I have heard that you can now go up to 50mm over standard tyre size in Victoria since September from 3 different places, including from 1 person from Vic roads.
Has anyone else heard this? The vic roads web site has not been updated yet (standard for Government department).

This would indeed be good news. Has anyone been able to confirm the change? I wrote to Vic Roads on the same subject about six weeks ago, but have not received a reply.

I had one of the guys at work call vic roads to ask the same question and after a 5 min wait he got the same answer. up to 50mm over is now ok as long as there is no rubbing on any part of the body at any time.
He also recomended to print out and keep in the car the relevant pages from this link
          http://www.dotars.gov.au/roads/safety/b ... eb2006.pdf
Page 16 being the most relevant, in case you are pulled over for a road worthy check by the police, as most departments have not been fully advised of the new regs. There web page should be updated sometime in the next year or so when the exact wording is worked out.
But dont take my word for it, call vic roads on 1300 360 745.
Call at 8.30 am to have any chance at all of getting through.
