Thought I better share my experience.

I have Mickey Thompson ATZ 4 ribs - purchased new in July 2012.
For months now they have had some cracks Along the side of the tread blocks.

Independent Tyre experts have looked at these and stated this is a warranty concern.
Will be VERY interesting to see what they say, as from what I have heard over the last year, I'm not expecting much.

How they choose to handle this, will be my final decision on weather I will use them again.

It took time to get an appointment to get these tyres looked at, and lots of patience waiting on the day.

It was worth the wait.

P.s they are getting replaced because of a manufacturing fault.
They have only ever seen one other set, like this in Vic.

Great to hear they have done the right thing. I'm have been 80% leaning towards BFG for my new tyres soon, with the other choice being the Mickeys. Maybe it's only 60/40 in favour of the BFGs now

Good result mate. Is there any indication of the manufacture / batch date on the tyres so other Members can keep an eye out for similar symptoms?

Hi, considering the MT rep, had only ever seen this once before, and the way he explained it, it's very uncommon.
There would be very little if any others.
I believe what he said, so he's either honest (likely) or a very good Bull$hite.
He said that they are safe to drive on & would not fall apart.
He is replacing them as they were purchased in July 2012 and had the cracks for months. Basically for my satisfaction.
They were made in 2012.
I don't want everyone running in saying, mine was the same batch, I need some too based on batch, for obvious reasons.
When I started this thred, I thought it was going to be more weight to the bad tyres/service from same factory as coopers.....wrong!
Very small problem I cannot really find similar case, excellent service!
Just monitor your tyres as you or your vehicle tech should. Keep an eye on any tyre not just these.

It's another reminder for me when I service vehicles, how important it is to have a good look at the in-out of all the tyres.
This is not the first vehicle. Have found issues with, all my customers experiences are, their tyres haven replaced free or at worst, pro-rata payed. So thats good too.

Ohh I might add, we had a great conversation about what I do with it, I told him I'm out at least every 2 weeks, looking for harder tracks a Prado can do.
I told him the tyres really get hammererred and he could see that. Did no faze him one bit!
His words "that's what they are made for".

Comforting to know as I’m running the same tyres. It will be interesting if another issue arises in different state and how it's handled.

Good job MT, a product is only as good as its warranty and backup service.

Just for your information , the same company imports Mickies as well as Coopers
In fact here we have 1 rep , he will visit the store up the road who sells Mickies and My old store where i sold the Coopers

Exact same experience earlier this year with a set of MTZs,
Cracking in between the lugs, replaced no issue, prob had about 18 k on them. Very good service, but what's going on with the tyres?
