Not aware of this they replaced the AT2( all terrain), the standard prado tyre is a at20 road tyre.

I called into my local Toyota 4X4 place this afternoon to check this exact thing... all '08 models on display still had the AT20s as standard fitment. The only vehicle I could find with the AT3s was the Hilux but that was a totally different size. I'm very interested in the AT3s as these come in a 275/65 which is 13mm taller in diameter and therefore legal in Qld. I'd prefer the Pirelli ATRs however these only come in 265/65.
My Prado 2002 is in needs some new hoofs and I'm unsure which tyre to put on the Pirelli ATs or ATRs or Dunlop AT3 which is the new tyre or wouldn't mind a helping hand. I have read the 4x4 mag review on Pirelli and sounds pretty good. I haven't found anything on the Dunlop AT3. I have the standard Dunlops the car came with and not happy with them on dirt tracks as the tend to slide a bit and slow down on corners nearly went over at one time. I do a fair bit of off road driving (no point in owning one if you don't take it off road) in all sorts of terain and would like a decent tyre. Wouldn't mind a hand. Thanks
I haven't heard anything bad about BFG's either, at this stage I am thinking about the BFG's All Terrain or the Cooper ATR or the AT3's. however i suspect the AT3's are more road going than the BFG or Cooper... Lucky my order hasn't arrived yet, still got a bit of time to decide.
I don't have any complaints with my AT3's offroad and in the mud. They went everywhere Cooper STT's and ATR's went without issue. And the mud was pretty savage.
They also handle wet bitumen fantastically. The only thing that I could pick on them about is a slight radial type hum when cruising on the hwy. Nothing major though and you only notice it when you're listening for it.
All in all at 2000kms, a great 50/50 tyre.
Good luck with your choice... there's plenty to choose from!
HI ive just recently purchased a new gxl d4d 6speed I was concerned when the sales person couldnt actually tell me what was the standard tyres that came on the car. So after emails & phone calls to toyota Australia I finally got a ANSWER for those who are concerned the standard tyre for a prado GX to Grande is a DUNLOP GRANDTREK AT20 to me it dosent seem too impressive (Highway Tyres). As at the moment on my current Prado a GXL 98 Petrol I am running a cooper ST LT 265 x 70 x 16. Unless I spend $1000 Approx I suppose Ive got to put up with them. I hope this info helps someone out for what tyre comes Standard as of the 17/6/08.
The at20 have been pretty much standard since the day the car was released, most of us swap tyres prior to delivery, you can normal do a swap for around $500 depending on the dealer for a decent AT replacement.

We in NSW and Qld are just grateful that those pesky ADR's that allow 265/70's are over-ridden by state laws :x . Or else the world of choice opened up to us would be just about crippling.
What a dilemma to have
