Are 265/70/17 tyres legal in Qld ( New to PP )

Looking at getting BFG 265/70/17 tyres for Prado. Are they legal size in QLD or do i have to get 265/65/17 to stay legal. Speedo is currently out about 5km hr. Sorry if this is an old question.

Queensland has adopted the NCOP so yes those tyres should be legal in QLD, a quick call to your local transport Authority should be able to confirm this. Alternately one of the QLD boys may be able to guide you to more specific advice.

This size tyre should put your speedo about perfect, assuming its reading fast now, which they all do after later 2006 build dates.

QCOP has special rules if stability control is fitted. You CAN go 50mm larger diameter tyres overall and a 50mm suspension lift without needing a modification plate if the vehicle isn't fitted with stability control.

QCOP is about to be reviewed since the one rule for all isn't the smartest. Not sure when any revised regulations will be issued given how long it took to get the last lot out.

These are links to the QMR's site, but essentially, yes, 50mm in diameter are allowed now.
