Do 285s stay in the gaurds

Hey, I have the 120 that didn't come with flares. It currently has the 120 alloys that I think are 17 X 7.5 pos30 offset and 265 65 tyres.
With this combo the sidewalls look to be about flush with the guards.

I brought a set of 17 X 8 pos20 offset rims and I'm looking at fitting 285 70 tyres after I install a lift kit.

Is anyone running 285's without flares?
How much will they stick out the guards?

Are they going to fit and allow clearance with the upper control arm?

It's going to be 20mm further out than your current tyre.

Stock rims with 265s stick out past the guards on a GX. 285s with 10 less offset means you will have the tyres we'll outside the guards. Probably 30mm.

you need zero offset rims to avoid scrubbing in the front.... I have pos 10 and they rub UCA (which is aftermarket) and at full lock on the chassis whilst under full compression. The rear is less of a concern, the only thing to watch is the rear mud guard. I've got a custom rear bar which fixes that issue. with pos 10 I'm flush with the GXL flares, so if I go zero offset (which I'm doing) I will be out slightly from the flares.

So if you're going to do it, zero offset rims and get some GXL flares
