Largest Tyres under Narrow Body Prado??

G'Day,
My new Prado is finally on the dealer's lot, scheduled to be picked up this Thurday, So I'm stoked!! Anyway, It's a narrow body Prado, like the old GX, and it comes with the tiny 225/70 R17 Tyres. So my first mod will be a new set of wheels and tires (Probably Coopers STT). My question is, what is the largest Tyre size I can fit under the Narrow Body Prado, without needing a set of after market flares??
Will a standard 265/65 r17 tyres fit too?? What would be the next tire size up, maybe not in width, but more diameter wise?

Also does anyone know where I can find a cheap set of 17x7.5 or 17x8 alloys that will fit the Prado??

Sorry I haven't got an answer to your query, but I have to know where you got the pic in your avatar. Is it a picture of a terminator from a new movie coming out? Curiosity got the better of me after seeing your avatar and reminding me of games of 40K from my youth.

Speedy Wheels Grande Rim is an exact copy of the Standard Toyota alloys.

and were cheaper than the Toyota wheels. I run these on my camper trailer.

I think the 265's will be too wide, try a 245 width.

Racketsports, Your right, it is a terminator from Warhammer 40K... Originally it was a Photo of a life size model.... Sorry i tried to find the link to the site but had no luck!

I wonder do they sell 245 in a similar diameter as The 265/70?
As I'm not so concerned about the width of the tyre it self, but would like to have a better ground clearance on the car?

The 245/70 is the about the about the same diameter as the 265/65 and a bit smaller than the 265/70.[/url]

Have a look at the Mickey Thompson in the the same size, you can get a MTZ mudder or the ATZ all terrain.

Yeah, I had a look at them, but I really love the way the STT looks.
I'm also considering the Brand new BFG KM2, which seems like a fairly road freindly Mud tyre with aggressive looks.

They Look good!! Hmmm... Although you mentioning that they cost 1/3 the price of the STT makes me worried.
How much do the Cooper STT actully cost?? I was assuming somewhere around the $300 mark?? My last set of tyres, Goodyear MT/Rs were around the $245 mark, so i thought that the coopers would be about $50 more expensive??

BSA Wheels Aust also make a suitable replica (AU625) generally costs around $200 per wheel ,Speedy's one is slightly dearer . The BSA unit can be supplied with a Toyota badge in the wheel boss if you ask for it , the Speedy can't . I got mine from Beaurepairs for $210 recently.
245 /70/17 is as big as you can fit without it sticking outside the guard .

Yes, at this stage, only the 19-18 inch rims are available. The other sizes will be made available in sep 09.

According to 4x4 Australia Magazine, they will be released in Australia on May 2008. Initially for 17" you will be able to get the LT245/70r17 (which I'm looking at), LT285/70r17, LT305/65R17, and From 35x12.5R17 to 40x14.5R17.
But the more traditional Sizes are meant to become available later in 2008...

Thomas79 . Still have the 245/70/17 ,tempted by the flairs they come in Gel Coat white or black ,would probably colour code them though bit tricky at the rear as they mould over the rear bumper .
Will wait until tyres wear out ....could take a while as too busy wearing out my employers on their Patrol (new set every 35K).
