  • Anyone know of Nexen tyres?

I am in the market for new tyres, and have heard of the Nexen brand. It seems they are a low cost AT tyre. I believe they have an LT version. From what I have read on other forums, they seem to be quite good, but I would like to know if anyone has experience with them on a Prado? :?:

I have also been recomended the Nexen ATII by my trusted tyre dealer. He has always given me good advice, but unfortunately this is all the info I have been able to gather. They are an extremely good price. He sell many Nexen tryes and has had no problems at all with them, (but hasn't sold any ATII)
Here is a link to the Nexen leaflet.

I agree with Hutch. But it takes a while to search out a good deal.
Promoted the Grandtreks to the shed last week after visiting many tyre dealers and finally fitted Bridgestone 694s. Mark at Jax, Mitchelton here in Brissie, gave me a great price - $232 each, fitted, balanced. Significantly cheaper than the catalogue specials Bridgestone tyre dealerships are running. Asked for the Aussie made ones without the white lettering. Bridgestone HQ in Adelaide told me they are made from a slightly more hard wearing compound than the Japanese ones.

Me too, a little extra $$$ for a lot of extra piece of mind. Think of it as an investment in your(and your families) safety.

I've been the victim of cheap tyres before (Nankang) A near death experience soon changes your way of thinking.

              Mate,

forget the Nexen, they have the worse AT ever made. I had them on my patrol and won't be using them again. If you're looking at saving a few quill, then consider the Maxxis 751 or the bighorns.

I think I agree. The trouble is that for every 10 people who praise a particular tyre, there is always someone who will bag it. Novices like me don't know which way to turn. I also need wheels for my trailer and I had been offered an alloy wheel & tyre package for a great price that included Nexen's, hence the question. The alternative is to get cheaper steel wheels for the trailer and put more money into the tyres (which will go on the car, with the car tyres swapping to the trailer). I must say I am leaning toward this latter option. :?

What you also have to understand is that the BIG names tyres companies also have BIG advertising budgets, where do you think the advertising money comes from?? Yes they add it onto their tyres prices, so just because a tyre is cheaper doesn't mean that they haven't spent as much on the tyre, or that the tyre is not as good. There as some very good tyres coming out of the "cheaper" tyre companies.
