      G'day 150gxl.

I've been having trouble finding anyone that can provide 265/70/17 in Brisbane without stating a 2-3mth wait. But I dropped into Jax Quickfit at Slacks Creek this afternoon and old mate there (James Sullivan) made a couple of phone calls and found that a shipment was coming in this week and they should be available in Brisbane in the next week to ten days. We put five(5) on backorder immediately and apparently I've secured them.

I've been quoted me $355 each, with seems a bit more expensive then our southern state counterparts, but I'm just happy to be able to get them. If you need some, you might be able to make a phone call and order some without the 2-3mth wait.

      Best of luck.

I went up to my local Bob Jane this morning looking at tyres and they said they would not fit anything in a 265/70/17 as it was legally too big which i thought was fair enough.
They did however suggest going for a 275/65/17, has anyone had any experience with this size? I asked if they would be too wide and rub on suspension components etc but he said it should be fine... he didn't sound too confident though.

I have the 275/65 17s BFG A/Ts. No problems with the fit except you need to have spacers on the spare carrier otherwise the tyre will push against the rear door/wiper. AMTS is the man to contact http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...-12mm-amp-20mm. My Prado has a 2" lift so I cannot comment if the vehicle is standard height.

If you search the archives there are quite a few posts about 275/65 tyres. You might have to edit your profile - General Settings - Thread Display Options - Default Thread Age Cutoff -> Show all threads.

Just ordered 4 265/65 Bfg ATs from Jax in Newcastle. $329 each which appears to be a good price to me. Should be here early August. Really happy with the service I received.

can any one tell me the difference between running 265 65s to 265 70s. i know they are taller but does it effect your speedo by much and what about fitting on the rear tyre carrier? can you still open your rear window wiper over the 265 70 on the back?

Tests with Decataur and Falcon mobile radar, combined with GPS show that when using the 265/70 the speedo reads 100% accurate right through the range - Mr Toyota has your speedo reading a little faster than you are actually travelling when using the stock 65 series tyres. The wiper will function ok but you will need a spacer to hold the tyre/rim on the rear carrier properly. There a couple of options to fixing this including purchasing spacers from the "for sale" section on this forum. I simply welded some 20mm flat bar on the tyre carrier and welded on some longer studs.

Yeomanda, check post #34 above for the link to amts spare wheel spacers. As far as your speedo is concerned, it depends on how old your Prado is. Mine is a 2004 model and the speedo reads exactly correct with standard 265/65/17. Newer models like Bushbasher's 2009 model read accurately with 265/70/17.

I have been quoted $350 by a Bob Jane store south of Adelaide, may be worth while giving them a go, if their prices are uniform Australia wide its a lot better than the $422 you were quoted.

Just ordered 265/70/17 for 370 each. I was told that reatil price is $440 ! I thought these would have been cheaper seeming there are lots more cars on the road that take this size now. KM2's were out of stock with 200sets on back order. Cooper STT's were still over 400. Hope this helps anyone looking.
                                Cheers
