  • Tyre wear and pressures

I've looked through 5 pages of the tyre sub forum so enlighten me if this has been covered before.

Ive heard/read differing opinions on whether lower pressures or higher pressures wear out tyres quicker. so which is it and why? (assume normal bitumen driving with a normal driver).

    cheers.

    Re: Tyre wear and pressures

To lower pressures wears the outer edges of the tyre quicker, and higher pressures wear out the centre of the tyre quicker.

Lower pressures increase tyre temperature which reportedly also increases tyre wear.

And so too are higher temperatures created when driving at high pressure/high loads/high speeds.

General rule is lower the pressure lower the speed.
