I'm doing a search for the link here just forgotten where it is right now, but I thought that to remain legal in Qld you couldn't go to 265/70R17 but you could go 275/65R17.

Edit: This is the link I was looking for, 265/70 and 275/65 changes
Just got off the phone to Scott from JAX Capalaba and I am getting 5 x BFG (265/65 AT's) for $295 each fitted with the usual - next tuesday
    Cheers Gerard

      Re: BFG A/T Pricing

      Folks don't bother
called today to make sure all was good for tomorrow and the price went up to $315.00 by another guy working there
eventually they called me back and offered me $305 then a minute ago phoned back and offered me $300

so if I had have just shown up at 8am tomorrow morning and got them put on I would have fallen short $100

did another call around and can get them elsewhere for $305 - I will cop the extra $50 for not being stuffed around
will report tomorrow as to where I had them done
      cheers gerard

        Hi Gerard,

Try Daniel at Bob Jane at Cleveland if you live on Brisbane's southside. I ended up buying my BFG's from Daniel.

Re. speedo accuracy: my late 05 V6 auto speedo reads SLOW by about 1-2 kph from 40 kph through to 120 kph and is on the standard Grand Craps [for now]. I have tried the garmin GPS on 6 other cars and most of them read about 5-8 % FAST. ie be wary of the revenue raising ba........s especially in Vic. Neil

            Re: BFG A/T Pricing

when my dilemma happened yesterday I called Jax Bowen hills and they were happy to do a $305
but when I got home I called the state manager and she sorted out for a $295 a tyre so they got fitted at capalaba this morning
only to be fitted with the writing inside so they spent another hour turning the tyres around - numb nuts
so got the BFG's on standard GX rims and they look HOT

              Re: BFG A/T Pricing

For those interested Jax at Blacktown have BFGs 265/70 17 on special this month for $295 fitted and balanced. A big difference from the up to $380 I had been quoted elsewhere. Getting mine done on Monday before the trip to Qld.

              Cheers
PS: Thanks to this forum for assisting in tyre choice. The Gradtreks only did 34,000ks (I've only had it for the last 5,000).

                Re: BFG A/T Pricing

                Well.... How disappointed am I?
After deciding on the BFG AT's in the 265 70R17 for the 120 (having had great results for my previous 2 sets on my old GU), I decided to order them from Bob Jane's in Cairns 5 weeks before I head off on our 8 week trip across the top end, through the Kimberly's and down to Perth. Now, 2 weeks to go, I've jumped on the phone (thinking they have been ordered) to book the fitting, and have just been told they have not been ordered at all and in fact there are none in stock at present in Brisbane. They will be in stock and delivered to Cairns 2 weeks after my planned departure date.
To make matters worse, the saleswoman tried to sell me Yokohama's instead!! (no offense to those who have them, just not my choice)
Thanks very much Bob Jane T marts of Cairns!!!!!!!
Now I will be forced to buy tyres I don't want in order to make the trip dead line.
Any ideas for somehow getting some BFG's before 09 May??

                  Svettens,

I tried to get a set of BFG's in Brisbane a few weeks ago and was told that they were out of stock and not expecting a new batch of tyres until about this week. I havent tried again but then again i havent been too impressed by the service level of BF Goodrich.

Thanks Nozman, it seems our timing's are far from ideal.

Funny thing though, the more I research the Yoko Geolandar A/T-S, the more I'm liking them.

                      Re: BFG A/T Pricing

I can't believe how much the prices can vary, i was quoted $423 a tyre for BFG 265/70's today from Bayswater. I paid around $320 4 years ago and have put 90,000 on them and can probably get another 30,000. He asked me why i wanted BFG cause they were an older style of tread and was promoting the Grandtreks! :?

Gee $423 makes me feel better paying $435 in Karratha a couple of days ago.
At least they said they at 10 in stock.

Well with the Cape calling, I couldn't wait for the BFG AT's and have ended up with the Bighorns instead. I'm confident they will be as good offroad (should be signifcantly better in the mud) but time will tell with milage. I'm not expecting to get anywhere near the distance I would with the BFG's but for the price and my planned trip ahead, I think they'll do fine.
Now... if only the rain would stop long enough for the roads to open....

                                Re: BFG A/T Pricing

I was just quoted $365 a corner from Jax at Penrith for the 265/65/17 BFG AT.
Jax are the only place I have called for a price on this tyre. I have been leaning towards the Cooper ATR ($380.00 a corner).
I had a few sets of Cooper ST'S on my last vehicle, and they were great. average 80,000kms but they were noisy as you would expect from an aggressive tread.
Not noisy at the time, but since I have had the Prado, I have come to love the quietness of this vehicle. I have never owned such a quiet 4wd before, having had patrols, a rodeo, a troopy, and an 80....(all diesels)

I feel the Cooper ATR 265/70/17 LT 10 ply, will give me the quietness as well as the strength I need for the 15k kms I do on gravel and dirt each year these days.
My BIL swears by the BFG AT and he does similar driving to me but being the younger brother, I would not like to copy him. Never hear the end of it.
From my waffling, I guess you can all tell I am not too sure which way to go.

                                Opinions???????
2008 Diesel Prado with extra stuff added. I drive it on the road and other places too.
