HI all

Looking for new tyres for the 120 (265/70/17) in a HT or AT pattern. Searching, searching, and in the paper today was Goodyears 25% off sale when you buy 4 new tyres.

Woohoo. Off I go, pushing lesser vehicles out of the way to beat the crowds, and come to a screach out the front, throw into park and rush inside.

"Four goodyear Wrangler Silent Armours please....."

Nice chap behind the counter checks his computer......"They are on special sir, buy four and only pay for three"

"Yes, yes I know, hurry up, how much, hurry up man!"

"Lets see. Yes I have four of them and they are $450.00 each"

"Say what?. Did you say $450.?" :shock:

"Yes sir, we are having a sale, buy four and pay for three."

I sighed, turned and shuffled away.

"I can sell you some coopers cheaper......"

"No thanks Ned." :roll:

Was this at a Goodyear store? Get them to price match Kmart or Bob Jane, then apply the offer.

Had the same issue, when I was quotting over the phone for MTR's:

Guy on the phone: How many are you after?

Me: Set of 4

Guy on the phone: They are $450 each but we got a discount...

Me: Last week whey were $350 each...

Guy on the phone: Oh.. OK Let me check...
....

Would you like the wheel alignment with that? :roll:

I think we may have a slight accc issue if they have put price up to offer the discount and are trying to cash in on it

I am in the process of getting new shoes atm. I saw this offer last week. I called goodyear straight away about 4 Wrangler MT/R with kevlar. They told me they were usually 520 each but they could do them on special for $480!! They would also honour the 25% off deal. Still, at $480 a corner, i'll be going for something else!

MMMMM ACCC hey!

Might email goodyear head office tonight and ask them what is going on and see the response.

Funny how a few of us have experienced the same thing.

I imagine its the local stores not wanting to jump in on the 'fun' of the whole 25% party.

I am in the process of getting new shoes atm. I saw this offer last week. I called goodyear straight away about 4 Wrangler MT/R with kevlar. They told me they were usually 520 each but they could do them on special for $480!! They would also honour the 25% off deal. Still, at $480 a corner, i'll be going for something else!

A mate of mine picked up the old MT/Rs in 285s for his 100 and I think he paid about $200 each from memory about three years back. Big price difference.

Out of interest and because i'm in the market for tyres now, I wanted to ring somewhere 'other' than goodyear to check prices against those I was quoted by goodyear for MTR with kevlar. Goodyear tyre and auto quoted about $510 RRP. I thought this was ridiculous. So, I rang Beaurepaires and there price is $500. Maybe goodyear aren't jacking up prices then, but just expect BIG dollars for what they offer??

From memorty I think Goodyear own Beaurepairs, or is it bob Jane?

You must be on the money. Bob Jane don't even sell goodyear that I know of. Off to find an independent then and see what they have the RRP at?

Phoned around today.

Independent places were around the $410.00 per tyre. One said they retail for $470.00 :shock: .
