  • What rims fit, what rims don't...

    Hi guys.

I thought I would start a “120 Series” list of what wheels fit, don’t fit or need calliper grinding. So how about:

Year of manufacture, engine (V6, 4D4 etc) and model (RV, GXL etc).

    “OK” if it fits
“NO” if it does not fit at all
“CAL” if the front brake callipers need to be ground for the rim to fit (and how much)

It would be good to keep this as a reference and only put down what you have tried or seen first hand to make sure the info is 100% for those that may want to use it further down the track.

And for those that read this at a later time, grinding of your callipers may have future consequences, so do as you see best…

    Paul.

PS. And try and stay on topic

    So…

    2005, V6, GXL

OK: Toyota 120 Series 17x7.5 Factory alloys (Obviously…)

OK: Mullins/CSA 17x8 Steel, 30mm positive offset (spoke area of rim runs close to calliper, OK so far)

CAL: Nissan GU Patrol 16x8 Steel (I did not grind, but I think 3-4 mm would do it)

Ok this is just what i have been looking for recently...

Paul, i notice yoy have the CSA rims on yours, how much are they worth each? I want to put the Mickey T's on them and get better suited tyre for road use/ AT stylee for the prado rims.

      Hi Damien.

I payed $100 per rim through the guy I bought the MT's from.

      Cheers,

      Paul.

          16" Rims on 120

D'day guys new to the forum!
I recently upgraded to a GX D4D that now comes with the 17x7.5 rims. My old rig was a 2004 GX that had the 6" rims. On the old beast I ran Cooper STT's in 245/70/17 and they worked a treat. I want to stay with the Coopers but the 265/70/17 cost a bomb.
Has anyone come across a 16" steel rim that fits the 120 with NO modification the the front calipers?
The difference in tyre price is about $50-$60 each.

            D4Dazz,

As far as I know there are no 16" wheels that will fit without grinding the front brake calipers. I went through the process of weighing up the cost tyres and availability of 16" and 17" versus the possible insurance / legal issues with grinding the calipers. I decided it wasn't worth the possible hassles and went with 17".

              Thanks for that Leachy9..

I was thinking that may be the case. I have 2 sets of the geniune Toyota 17x7.5 Steels so I'll just use them. I should stop being so tight I guess..
(Although a set of black 17" rims on a white Prado would look pretty cool)

              Cheers!
