Smartbar??

Hi, been reading for a while now but this is my first post. I am really considering one of these smartbars for my graphite gxl delivered next week. Would probably go for the black as there is no easy way to colour match. I like the fact they are light and are a bit safer for pedestrians . My question is will it really do the job of protecting the car and allowing us to continue our trip when we hit a roo?? I dont think anyone on pp has got one on a 150 yet so could be a gamble.
Opinions on looks aside, what you think?

Aren't there like two other smartbar threads already? You could probably have posted your questions there.
Anyway, I reckon a black smartbar on a graphite 150 would look weird..... aside from that... there are a lot of conflicting reports on smartbars, you'll come across people who say they've struck a roo so bad that it made the car undrivable. Then there are others who will say they've bounced a roo off it with absolutely no damage to the car. Of course, each case is different due to speed, area of impact, driving conditions etc.

As for what I think...you probably wouldn't value my opinion much. As with most of the PradoPoint populus, I own a steel bar and hence am biased! Though, if you do decide on getting a smartbar for your 150; when you do hit a roo or pedestrian (or both) do report back to us :shock: :mrgreen: :lol:

On smartbars website I think I saw examples of a strike test between their product and some other bars. The bar either springs back or doesn't move much in the first place.
If it springs back I guess the damage has been done (ie radiator etc...) if it doesn't move in the first place I guess it'll be much like a steel bar.

But, as William said... why not go straight to the horses mouth and ask this Q in the other thread (or PM Smartbar)
