  • Kaymar 'Wheel on Door Bracket"

HI all, love the look of these rear door brackets. I'd love to get the bracket with the work light accessory option. It'll give me a bit of extra clearance for the 275 BFGs as well as providing a good work light.

Anyone got one of these yet? Anyone know the cost? How hard would it be to get power to the work light?

    Cheers, Sam.

Re: Kaymar 'Wheel on Door Bracket"

From memory it costs $260 with a halogen work light. Check out my build up thread, I took the spare wheel off completely and found two uncut grommets towards the bottom of the rear door. Samo is also right about the rear camera grommet. I'm mobile at the moment but I will confirm the price once I get on my pc tomorrow.

      Cheers

Edit: confirmed, it is $260 in the ARB price list. It comes with a 55w halogen light. I emailed kaymar directly and they said no wiring or switches are included, just the mount and light is provided.

Edit2: what she failed to tell me in the email is that there's a version sold without the crappy halogen work light for $122
Check out the press release here: http://www.kaymar.com.au/press%20releases.php it's odd though, the price difference is $140, they don't really think that the work light is worth that much do they? A 24w led light from eBay can be had for $75 that blows away the output of the halogen supplied.

Re: Kaymar 'Wheel on Door Bracket"

I've got one on my 150 VX, bought it for the ariel mount, (extra cost) as I don't need a Bullbar, car will mainly be used to tow a boat with a couple of trips to Fraser and Moreton thrown in each year.

High quality item, very strong with zinc coating, the ariel mount I got is an update from the photo above, I'll add photo's later today.

I've fitted the wheel cover back on, it's spaced out a bit but I don't mind the look, again photo's later today.

Olbis here in Brisbane wired it up, the bloke there was very impressed with the bracket and said it was easy to cable, coax is inside the rubber flexible conduit between the body and the door.

I bought it through ARB Southside

            Thanks guys.

So does the $122 version come with the bracket for the light? And then the extra $140 is just for the actual light? Or, is the extra $140 for the light mount and the light itself?

            Actually cheaper than I expected.

            More photos would be great.

            Cheers, Sam.

Re: Kaymar 'Wheel on Door Bracket"

Sam, the way they have priced their products on their press release seems a little odd indeed...

              They offer 3 different outfits:
Wheel on door bracket including telescopic light mount, fittings and instructions
              K7120 RRP $122.00

              Telescopic work light
              K0500 RRP $260.00

Bracket for HF aerial - to suit K7120 ONLY
              K7123 RRP $95.00
The way they have listed it makes it seem like they are individual products, ie, the work light alone being $260 (What a ripoff that would be). However, my guess is that the $260 is the bracket+telescopic mount+work light. Regardless, wouldn't you want to replace the work light with an LED spotlight instead? In which the K7120 should do the job nicely.

              Cheers

Yep, if the bracket and work light mount are $120, I'll get that and find my own light I think.

Re: Kaymar 'Wheel on Door Bracket"

The work light includes the mount to mount it to the wheel on door bracket. The wheel on door bracket is just the spacer itself with the 2 holes on it to bolt the work light mount on and the 4 holes to bolt the antenna mount on. Plan to pick myself up one next week at the Brisbane 4WD show as I have been toying with this idea now for some time, I should have bought one a few months back as I could of got it much cheaper then...

Re: Kaymar 'Wheel on Door Bracket"

Pricing is confusing in my opinion.

Emailed Kaymar to find out for sure and the Wheel on Door Bracket (the spacer) is $122.00. This includes the small bracket that the Telescopic Work Light fits onto.

The Telescopic Work Light (the extendable pole, light and switch) is an extra $260.00.

Sounds expensive to me for an extendable pole (which could be easily made DIY) and a halogen light. Might have to buy the Wheel on Door Bracket first and then see if I can fabricate something myself that'll fit to it for the light. The extendable pole bit just seems like a square section of steel with a smaller section that slips into it.

Could someone who has one take some close up photos and let us know what bits comes with each item.

                      Cheers, Sam.

Re: Kaymar 'Wheel on Door Bracket"

                            Hi all,

From memory when I purchased for my 120,

1/ The spacer as already mentioned one unit and comes with the telescopic light mounting bracket and mounting bolts.
You will also need some sort of rubber barrier to protect the paint work as the bracket edges were quite sharp.

2/ The antenna mount is sold separately.

3/ The telescopic light mount, comes with switch and curly cord.

                            4/ Lamp

The telescopic light pole is actually two pieces weld together, one is
square tube the slides in another square tube. To this is welded a round
tube that holds the curl cord for the lamp and keeps it out the way.

I too thought it was rather expensive and was going to make my own but could
not source the curly cord, also unit is galvanised and decide by time I had to purchase
all the parts, weld it, paint it etc I'd spend the money and buy there's.

Quite good quality, though the antenna bracket does flex a bit with the Barrett auto tune
on it and may eventually fail over time.

Only gripe I have so far though is the other day after having had it for three years,
washed the car before taking in for service the next day. On arriving at the dealer did the usual
before service walk around and noticed rust marks on the rear door rubber step and door behind
the spare. On investigation found rusty water had come out of a hole in the end of the antenna bracket
that I assume was either put there for you to run coax through or to make welding easier, probably the later.
The current model bracket doesn't appear to have the hole so I assume the problem has been raised by others
and corrected in the current model.

                            Cheers

Why? because I want to know what is included in the $122 kit. I'd make my own if it were a case of two bars that go across and a pole coming off from the side. However it's not that simple.... a bracket needs to be fabricated to suit the contours of the wheel carrier in order to get the the light pole off towards the side. If the $122 unit includes this (circled in red below), it would save me a lot of time and headaches as precision bending, cutting and welding steel isn't my strong point. I can't imagine my build would be as good as or as sturdy as the kaymar unit. So for $122, it's worth it to me
