Soverign Bull Bar & Winch

Hi,

I have a factory alloy bar fitted and want to install an ironman winch. If I move the bull bar forward 50mm, can I fit the winch bar and winch from underneath?

I was hoping to bolt the winth to the bar and then lift it into position.

Hi gxl_d4d,

Problem is the winch mounting bracket is sandwiched between the bullbar and the arms that
mount the bar, and the bolts that mount the bull bar go through the winch mounting plate.

With the old style brackets you had to change the crush cans (arms) as the new ones
were slighty shorter to allow for the thickness of the winch mounting plate. Not sure
with the new ones as I didn't fit them.

You have to remove all the bolts that attach the bull bar to the arms to fit the winch
mounting plate, ie support the bull bar on a engine hoist or remove it off the car by
hand if you don't have one.

With the bar supported and out 50mm you maybe be able to fit the winch plate but
then you would need to find someway to support it until you can replace the bull bar
and it's mounting bolts.

The standard way it's done is to remove the bull bar, place the winch plate on the
bull bar and attach the winch. The winch mounting bolts then hold the plate and
winch attached to the bull bar. Then replace the bull bar.

If the plate was already mounted you could possible mount the winch without remove
the bar but it would be a tight fit, unfortunately you haven't got the plate mounted yet.
