  • Volunteer for 150 Series TrekTable

    Hi all,

It's Andrew from TrekTable here (www.trektable.com.au). I'm after a volunteer in the Brisbane area who is willing to allow me to use their vehicle for developing a Trektable for the 150 series. You would need to:
    • Come to my 'factory' (it isn't really a factory, the business is part time and runs from my shed)
    • Allow me to remove the rear door skin so I can inspect the rear door frame for mounting positions
    • Allow me to measure up the door to develop the correct size table
    • Allow me to take photos of the inside of your rear door for use in my instructions
    • Come back a week or two later so I can fit the TrekTable and test my instructions
    • Be prepared to hear me talk about how much I'd like to upgrade to a 150 series but how I can't bear to part with my 120 series because of all the customisations

In exchange, I'll supply & fit a TrekTable to your vehicle for free. I'm in Tarragindi, Brisbane.

This isn't a covert plug for my business. I genuinely seek a volunteer so I can develop a new model table for the 150 series. Simply reply to this thread if you are interested (or PM me)

    Thanks

    Andrew

                  Hi All,

Just a quick update for those waiting patiently. It's taking me much longer than anticipated to develop a suitable table for the 150 series due to the raised rear floor combined with other workloads I have at present.

The models with the raised rear floor present a problem because there isn't much room between the rear door and the raised floor when the door is closed. This means the mounting point for the table hinges needs to be just above the height of the raised floor which is about the same line as the bottom of the 2 storage compartments (making it hard to mount the hinges).

I haven't given up yet and do have a solution in mind but will take me a little while to develop.

I'm pretty confident that I can quickly develop a TrekTable for the 150 series models that don't have a raised floor. The same table used on the 90 series and 120 series will fit but I just need to check hinge mounting locations. If you have a 150 series without the raised floor, are located in Brisbane and are willing to help out, let me know and I can quickly put one together.

Once again, sorry for the delay on the raised floor model and I'll provide an update in the next few weeks.

                  Thanks

                  Andrew

                    Hi All,

Well, after longer than anticipated, I can announce that we now have a model available for the 150 Series Prado. This model did take us longer to develop than expected due to the challenges introduced by the raised floor in the Prado 150 but we have now solved the problems and this model is ready to go. This TrekTable has been designed to suit the Prado 150 Series with the raised floor and still allows easy access to the tool and general storage areas in the rear door.

Unfortunately, due to the issues with the raised floor, we have had to change the method for mounting the table to the rear door and this means you will require a pop rivet gun in addition to the standard tools required for all previous models (e.g. electric drill, screw driver, tape measure). We still supply the drill bits (there's 2 drill bits required for this model).

I haven't yet updated our website so we have attached the pictures of this new model to show you how it looks. Unfortunately, we had to increase our price to $229 but this price still includes GST and postage anywhere in Australia.

Note that the cargo net pocket in the pictures below is not included as standard but is available for an additional $25.

If you want to place an order, you can do so via email (info at trektable dot com dot au) and we'll get back to you ASAP.

Thanks to those who volunteered to be a guinea pig for this model and a very, very big thanks to Allan Jennison. It turns out that Allan lives just around the corner. I had to source some special hinges from the USA plus measure his door and remove the door lining multiple times over several weeks and each time, he was super accommodating.

                    Andrew

Smart looking table. It seems a little smaller than some of the DIY tables seen in some of the builds, and i note the cut-out corner as well. What's the reason for that?

                      Again, nice work.

                        Hi Mike,

                        Both good questions
Table size: Our most popular model TrekTable is the 120 series and it is the largest table we make. The 2nd most popular is the GU Patrol. The table for the 150 series is slightly larger than the GU Patrol model. It just looks abit small on such a big door. I originally planned to use the same size table as for the 90 and 120 series Prados but that table is too big for the door shape on the 150. The main problem is that there isn't enough room between the door and the raised floor to fit the table in it's closed position once the door is shut. There's only about 8mm which isn't enough. So that limits the maximum height of the table (you can see that the hing mounts just below the storage pockets). The door has a slight concave shape laterally which limits the total width of the table. I could make the table slightly wider (maybe 50mm) but there are electrical wires just wide of where the retaining buttons are located. (the ones mounted to the top of the door which the table hooks onto when closed). Given that our TrekTables are designed for self installation, I opted to keep the table just a little bit narrower to reduce the risk of someone drilling thru the wires behind the door skin.

Cut Out Corner: This only occurred on the prototypes (making them collector's items). The production run is square.

                        Regards

                        Andrew

I notice that the table, when all folded away, obscures the rear door interior handle....I'm not sure if thats wise....it may be bettr to allow easy access to the interior door handle...maybe? I know if you have a cargo barrier and the rear full of gear etc, you will never get near the door handle, but in those vehicles where you have the car full of passengers, the rear door may be an altenate exit for back row passengers in an emergency, and now the handle is blocked by the table...is it worth thinking about having a small cut out to allow easy access to be able to open the rear door from inside...or is that just a pain in the...rear door?

Either way, it does look good and I will be getting one soon.

nice, I am interested in part for protection of the rear door and because a table is always handy.
What is the approx load capacity?
I would order one right now, but I want to fit my black widow draw system from the previous 4wd and not sure if it will fit?
