GX Wheel Cover compatibility with 265/65x17

The wait is nearly over for my new GX to arrive. I have a new set of 7.5" rims & 265/65x17 ready to go (ie GXL standard) and wondered if any owners could tell me if:

a) the STD Prado size spare will go on the back door (without having to space out), and
b) if the GX wheel cover will cope with the tyre going from 245 to 265 wide?

I did search the forums and could not find this information readily to hand. Thank you.

gday mate im no guru but i believe that the wheel cover would be standard on the 17" rim models if not the whole range, i dont think you will have a problem, but if im wrong im sure someone will correct tkss

I have the GX 150, upgraded to BFG AT 265/65x17
The cover fits - No problems
As long as you use std GXL wheels or ones with same offset.

Thanks guys. I was down the garage today to swap the wheels over before final delivery. I didn't have time to check the spare but it is the same mould for the GXL and above models as it has a panel where the camera would go. I went with Speedy Chariot (Black) in the end. This has a 5 mm offset difference over standard, so I may or may not have a problem still. The outside wall of the tyre should be 5mm further away from the face of the back door. We'll see what happens!

Well the Speedy Chariot rim won't fit on the WOD carrier - the centre hole isn't large enough. I will need to modify the centre stub (that just stops the centre of the fibreglass cover from rattling, by the looks of it).

Bummer, A bit of work needed ??
I don't want to rain on the new car parade...
But changing the track width to a new car sometimes buggars up insurance & waranty
There are only a few legal, wheel & tyre mods you can do.
Hope you checked them all out !!

Good point! I did check it all out and the slight difference is within spec on the wheel offset.
As for the wheel carrier design, Toyota have included a beefy looking centre cone to help the user slide the spare wheel up to the 3 wheel studs without difficulty. We'll do some delicate surgery with the angle grinder and welder to do a bit of Jenny Craig to skinny it down a bit.

I have wheels with an 18 offset and 275 tyres and the cover still fits.
