Tracklander Roof Rack

I went early to TJM Underwood looking for a Tracklander roof rack. I waited for about 20mins while the sales people ran around looking busy. No effort to acknowledge me or the other bloke in the store. No Tracklander racks on show.

Drove to Coopers Plains TJM and was greeted almost straight away. Asked the bloke what price he could do on the Tracklander for a Prado 150. "Tracklander?" he says, "Don't think we have any in stock. Let me just check. Nah mate. We haven't stocked those in two years. Don't really sell them anymore."

So off i toddle, wondering where i could i have gotten the impression that TJM sell these things.

What a let down.

I've found a few more places that say they sell Tracklanders, but can anyone tell me where i can actually get one of these bad boys?

I went to TJM brendale and got a lot of help (Justin). They hand one there in the show room. I actually just ordered a GXL and part of the deal was a Tracklander rack. I had planned to put it on but I have since had a little doubt, it sits very high off the roof. And looks a little funny and maybe will be a pain in car parks? It looks a really strong rack and according to Justin was one of the best racks on the market. I think RR was about $1700, through the deal I did with my dealer I was going to pay $1200.
I’m thinking about a ARB deluxe alloy rack. I would love here other peoples thoughts.

I have also been talking to Justin as well as Darren from TJM Brendale (great service and knowledge) in relation to a Tracklander rack. I need to keep the height down so I am looking at taking off the north fourth rails and installing a totally flat platform. i have been advised that Tracklander have just released one and retails for around $1250. Everyone else's has the sides.

I ended up speaking with Justin at TJM after he replied to an email request for a quote. He supplied me with the 2.1m rack for $1540 plus the leg mount kit for $314. I'll be fitting it myself once i get some time off work and can steal the car from my wife.

I have a 2.1m full length on my 150, it's very loud even at 60kms/hr, I like having the rack but it's not a necessity and so am weighing up whether or not to try a smaller rack ei the 1790 arb, or do I just remove it all together?
I would prefer to have a rack but don't want to waste more money if it's still going to be just as loud....
I have heard (from a sales rep tho) that the longer racks just over hang the windscreen which is what creates the noise...

Tracklander Roof Rack

I changed to the pioneer platform from the pioneer tray to save weight but also an added bonus that it's heaps quieter
So maybe you could look at that?

Pioneer Tray. Just got the same size Platform but without the rails. Now have the light bar bolted direct to it so without the brackets for that and the rails I've saved 10kg.
I guess it was wind whistling through the rails which was making all the noise. Much quieter now.

When I was looking for a rack from my 150 I was looking at the Pioneer stuff but it is heavy compared to the 1.8m Tracklander I ended up with. No noise that I notice but then the rack is only on when we are camping so maybe because I don't have to live with it I don't care?

I guess so 😉 we seem to be off road every couple of weeks so just leave it on.
