UHF dash mount - below rear camera screen

Hi all,

Looking at moving the UHF remote head unit to a better spot, was thinking about cutting a position for it below the "rear camera screen" in the center dash. Cut it out and sit it flush.

Going to check tomorrow and see how much room there is in there, anyone looked at this before?

might be a bit tight.

Three Boy's and the Melbourne F1 will stop that from happen.

I'm sure it will be a great day having a brains trust together to work on the Prado's.

Perhaps price up a replacement facia from Toyota first in case it turns to poo!

Fido,

I was thinking I could pick one up in my travels from ebay (all of the SATNAV install happening)
or from a wrecker to enable me to change back in the future. ( Hopefully)

The only other spot I was looking at was in-between the center console and seat (driver or passenger), but it would be nice to have it up high on the dash.

Currently it is mounted above the H/L range switch.

If it looks anything like a possible F$#kup I will not attempt.... Although usually a F%$kup is defined as "starting something then..........
So maybe I won't know until it happens!!!

Is it a GME remote face?. They can be replaced with the later model mic/display all in one units can't they. Easier to mount than the face. I can see it being difficult to make it neat if you're thinking of doing what I'm thinking.

Bernie,

I made a modification to my GXL model, where I had an installer add a larger screened GPS unit, and therefore a different dash panel to the Prado. The new dash panel has a box with lid, so I have my handpiece stored in there, and the UHF unit is stored behind the dash.

The dash panel does exist, however, Toyota Australia may not help you much in selling you one.

The information is in Forum "Electrical", you may have to make a search for "DVD/nav upgrade question". My photos and comments are under numbers 12 and 14, including the installers name and phone.
