    Hi All

Besides maxtrax or treds what do you use?

I have cut the base out of a couple of bread crates and then cut these in half to use under the wheels when stuck. Not so good for muddy ground but great on sand, bulldust holes and clay etc.

Also have a mate that has cut workshop matting, the stuff with the 1inch holes, into long strips (about 300mm x 1.5m) and he uses that.
2010 GXL Prado, ARB bar and winch, driving lights, dual wheel rack, roof rack, UHF, sat phone, rear seats removed, custom rear floor and fridge slide, chip, 3inch exhaust, 3inch lift, 200kg rear springs, ome shocks, 285 maxxis Tyres, Dual batteries, Anderson plugs, power in back etc. snorkel, and more. Wish List - nomad transmission lockup, roof mount DVD, long range tank, endless air compressor to fit the 150.

For light weight and ease of use you can't go past maxtrax / treds.
The rubber mats, cut up bread crates etc are cheaper, but not better.
Remember the old days of chopping down trees and stuffing branches under the wheels.....?
      I'll take the maxtrax thanks.

I have a couple of different options, one is an old milk crate cut into 5 squares and cable tied together allowing them to fold up together like a map and stored away, nice and light and good for sand.
The other, more robust but uses more storage space is some lengths of plastic/fibre glass grid mesh. same as normal steel grid mesh for walk ways etc on mine sites but is made from plastic/fibre glass. cut it to desired length and width, solid and strong, fairly light. if you have the storage room on roof rack or under trailer will get you out of any situation from sand to mud and every thing in between.
A couple of short 2ft lengths for under bogged wheels ( so it wont get caught under your chassis when it kicks up when the wheel goes on it ) and a couple of longer 2m lengths to keep you moving out of any sticky spot is the go.
        Cheers Sunchaser
