ARB Deluxe Bullbar painting

Hey!

I live in Nicaragua and just ordered an ARB Deluxe Bull Bar for my 150 Pearl White Prado. I really like the look of color matching the bar to the vehicle. However, my guy at the 4x4 shop reckons that the original is powder painted and if painted it would be more prone to chip and come off... (would have to be here... let's hope he can match color in the first place...)

Any experiences or advice? I live in really harsh conditions and have lots of rocks flying, animals touch etc.... Recommendations?

You paint over the powder coating, so I don't see how it can be more prone to chipping. Mine is painted white and has a couple of small chips after 3 years, but still looks great. If you like the look then go for it I reckon.

My paint guy used a paint additive to make the paint go really hard, check with whoever does yours to make sure they do the same.

I agree with Andrew. I had mine painted silver four years ago (ARB organised the painting along with the fitting) and have never had a problem.

As Andrew said 'go for it'.

thanks guys, you really helped making up my mind. I will paint it and hope the guys can get it right (nothing is easy around here, we say lead floats in Nicaragua...). I guess it is just paint and you can always re-do... cheers, p
