  • Fitting. bull Bar to a 150 at home

    Hi all
    I am looking to buy either a TJM or ARB bullbar to my D4D Prado. Are they easy enough to do at home. I have fitter bullbars to all my previous 4wd's however none with so much plastic at the front, or none that required cutting. Are the instructions straight forward, and is the cutting template accurate?

    I did mine at home. the templates are great, easy to do, just make sure you measure, then measure again, then check it again then get a 2nd opinion. you can not uncut your bumper.

      I fit up my ARB Deluxe bar at home by myself to my car that already had the bumper cut for the Toyota alloy bar. Apart from that, it was easy, the instructions easy to follow, just make sure you read them a few times as the pics are a little hard to see. The template was perfect. I recommend changing the parkers to LED globes or the complete LED replacement if you choose ARB as the normal parkers don't last long and they are a shit to change after the fact. I'd also suggest fitting recovery points at the same time, if you wanted them at all.

        Thanks guys, ordered one today, will fit at home to save $400 odd dollars. What did you use to cut the bumper, and any special tool to remove all those plastic clips.

          I used a jigsaw with a fine metal blade in it. Taped a kitchen sponge to the jigsaw plate to avoid scratching. Be prepared to break some clips, although you should have spares after you chop most of your bumper off!

            I started mine on Sunday and just finished it tonight, easy to do at home, as the others have said measure and measure again!
            I used a jig saw as well, mine came with the genuine Toyota bar so had to remove that first, this did make cutting a bit of a hassel but the middle section isn't seen when bar is bolts on
            I would also recommend fitting recovery points at the same times as getting to the rear bolts would be almost impossible when the bar is on.
