  • Fridge Slide 150 series

I have been looking at fridge slides for my 150series and am starting to get dizzy with all the options.

I don't have a set of drawers and planned on mounting the fridge slide and engel 40 directly onto a ply template in the boot area. I realise it won't be very high, but considering the price of some slide systems if I am going to blow $400 on a simple powder coated steel slide then why not just get a drop down slide for an extra $200.

Has anyone mounted a drop down slide directly on the floor of the boot, and if so does it reach past the small tailgate/bumper step ? If you have I 'd love to see a photo.

Otherwise what's the best bang for buck with the straight slides ?

I paid just under $300 for my Waeco straight slide new and delivered, that's for the 65 to 80L version. We just use a little plastic step to access it, couldn't justify a drop slide for the amount of use it will get. I've been told the MSA drop slide can be a bit fiddly to use and that the Black Widow one is very good and easy to operate but I can't hep with the question on clearing the bumper sorry.

If you have a look on Gumtree and eBay there's quite a few used slides on offer (both drop and straight), could save a few dollars that way.

If it does clear the rear bumper I think it would be tight, I really like the look of the black widow drop slides, but the unit that will take my 78lt arb fridge is still in development. I'm currently waiting on an msa ds50 should be here in a couple of weeks, but it will be mounted on top of drawers

thanks guys, I think I'll have a go at building a DIY slide. As with most of my DIY projects it mightn't turn out cheaper but I might learn something...

After installing the drop slide today, it should clear your back bumper and then still be able to drop. Having said that this is installed on my 120 not in a 150

Thanks Ghost, but I dusted off the welder and have 80% completed my slide. Needs a bit of paint and some finishing touches and will look the goods. My cost of raw materials was <$90, I don't understand why these are so expensive.

I'll keep the drop slide idea in mind for when I upgrade.

Anything brand name associated with four wheel driving is expensive these days. Will be keen to see your finished project, sounds like you had fun doing it and saved a bit of dough too.
