150 GX roof racks look odd

Hi there.

I put some rhino roof racks on my 2014 GX this weekend.

After fitting them I thought they looked really odd because the front rack was higher than the middle rack (I only have the front and middle rack as they are just for surfboards). At first I thought I had made a mistake, however I now understand that this is intentional to ensure that all three racks line up but if you only have two racks then it doesn't matter if they line up.

Does anyone else think the height difference looks odd?

Is it possible to put the middle rack on the front and middle row so the height is more "normal" or are there any good rook rack systems that I dont do this?

Alternatively, can you put the GXL roof rails on a GX?

If you swapped the mounting feet around, the bolts would not go in straight into the holes in the roof and the legs would be at a weird angle.

Alternatively, can you put the GXL roof rails on a GX?

You could if you can find someone offloading a set. Otherwise, don't ask Toyota for a price as it is ridiculously expensive. and after putting on the roof rails, you will then need to get another set of crossbars.

If you didn't want it to look so odd, you could install the rear bar and remove the middle bar.

I thought the rhino pioneer platform looked of odd when I first installed it, because my drive way is on an incline.

When she's level it doesnt look that bad

You could get another adapter block (M155) and fit that between the rails and the mounts in the middle row. You will need longer bolts to accommodate the block though.

Thanks for the advice. I think I will try and source some rails off a GXL.

Taking the rails off mine and putting on a R42102B Platform on the weekend so may be selling them!
