Re: Finding Accessories power for UHF - Anyone?
In My Opinion - Do It Right - Do It Once
Have a look at my Build thread for some pics - but here is a description of the first mod that should be done to an 4x4 that is going to be heavily accessorized with electrical goods.
1. Install Second Battery
2. Run a thin wire from Cig socket (this is switched) to at least a 70amp relay (mine is 40 but will be upgrading it)
3. Install two 6blade fuse holders (or 4 or 8 i guess)
4. Power one side of each fuse block - One fuse block directly from Battery and the other from the sitched relay you setup earlier.
And Presto - You now have both constant and acc. 12v points to hook up accessories to, nice and tidy and all with individual fuses
In this case I have put them into the engine passenger side nice and close to the grommet in the firewall where all the cables will go through into the cab but in my previous car I actually put them in behind the glove box and this worked really well to as there was a nice space.
