Finally ripped off the roof rails and fitted a alloy roofrack. Wasn't as hard as i thought it would be. Lucky i searched PP for hints beforehand. Went with a Tradesman Enginneering Oval Alloy style. Very popular down here, and seem solidly made. Size 1300 wide by 2200 long quite a bit bigger than the ARB one for the same money. Also wasn't sure i liked the full pressed metal rails ARB have, can't get your hands in there any where. What if i wanted to wash the roof? Where as this one has cutouts. Was a bit worried when i went down to pick it up cause it looked huge, bigger than my box trailer. But it weighed stuff all, had the wifey help chuck it on the new rails, so pretty manageble. The only disappointing thing was there was no rubber strips in the kit to stop the steel rail being in direct contact with the painted gutter. So off to the hardware for a roll of joist protector, perfect, just cut what i need plus a hole for the bolts. But now it is on it looks fine (i hope).
Here's photo's, sorry about the quality but had to use the phone.
