  • ARB winch bar - 2 issues

We had a winch bar fitted this week. We opted for it to be colour coded. When I picked it up, I was told that they were 2 screws short and could I bring it back the next day. No problem, but it cost me an hour of my time.
I had a good look at the bar this morning and realised that the gap between the bar and the quarter panel is substantially different from one side to the other. Up to about 20mm difference. I rang them today and they said bring it back next week and we'll take a look at it. This annoyed me but I agreed. Being a small business owner myself, If I had a client who was unhappy I would want to sort it out immediately. Nevertheless, we shall see what they say next week.
Additionally, the colour of the bar has been painted a "whiter white" (if that makes sense) than the car.
Has anybody else had a white bar fitted by ARB and how close is the colour?

Hmmm, I've got mine booked in for the 25th of this month, I'll let you know when it's done. Supposedly they're painted to match the paint code rather than match the exact shade of the car itself (for instance fading, staining, etc not taken into account).

considering the car is 3 weeks old I wouldn't expect it has faded too much. The discrepancy between colours is quite noticeable

The quality of the colour coding seems to vary between ARB dealers.

I have a white Prado, and will probably consider a black ARB bar. Had a black bar on the white 80 series Cruiser, looked good to me. Had a number of small stone chips that were hard to see. Looked at a few white painted bars, and the stone chips stick out like dog's b-lls.

          Yowie.

Colour coding not colour matching, big difference

Mine was installed today. It is a bit hard to see too much at night but it looks OK - evenly installed and colour coded.

I had my ARB bar fitted a couple of weeks ago. I chose to have tha bar painted in silver (prado), and it is on a white GXL. Therefore, no issue with colour matching. It looks very smart, and a little "softer" than white on white. Very happy with the combination. I will try to get a photo up shortly.

I too have got a colour coded white ARB winch bar and I also noticed it's a whiter white than the car's Glacier White. I don't notice it as much when I look straight on as I approach the car, more so when I'm behind the wheel and looking from the bonnet to the bar.
I also thought the bar would come up a bit higher than it does. As I've never owned a 4WD before I assume it's on properly..!
I'd attach a photo but I don't know how to.

                        cheers

Re: ARB winch bar - 2 issues

I took mine back to ARB earlier this week and discussed it with the manager. He explained that sometimes it is just not possible to get them on perfec with the same gap on both sides. He did agree that the gap on mine was excessive. He also felt that it was too close to the car and needed to come forward more. He explained that it was not a 5 minute job and that I would need to book it in for another day.
I then spoke to him about the colour. He agreed that it was completely different and would be happy to get it done again. He even suggested that they could remove a mirror to send off with the bar to get a better match (now we're talking).
I am pleased the manager has agreed to rectify everything without any coercion. I intend to add a lot more accessories to the Prado in the future, and if they rectify these 2 issues I have, I will certainly continue spending money with them. If they don't, well I will be sure to post it here and look elsewhere for 4wd accessories.
