Thank you sir, I will take a look at it in the morning and hopefully have it sorted. Much appreciated

Well, it seems that Sydney City Toyota (the only Aus dealership owned by Toyota factory) think this can't be done.

I tried to order the parts, and from the diagram it appears the little plastic rectangular drip rail cover that clips onto the metal top-hat bracket has a specific left and right side, but when the parts guy clicks on it, the left side refers back to the right side part number, indicating they are the same part.

He ordered 6 of them, and sure enough, they all arrived, they all have the same directional arrows embossed on them indicating which way to mount them (arrows point fwd and outward) and the right side fits perfectly, but the left won't, because the clips are off-set to one side.

The Goose at Toyota just can't get it through his thick head that I need the parts from the GX, not the GXL as GXL has rails!! They maintain that it can't be done on a GXL, and when I said well explain why the R/H side fits perfectly??? They shrug.

Can anyone with a 2014 GX possibly take a pic of the left and right drip rail covers and post or send it to me as I think the only way to convince them this can be done is to draw with crayon for them.

The part I need is the long plastic rectangular piece on the left (note arrows) of the pic. This should be different on both sides, and I need to show them the arrows are different for the L and R side.

It is unbelievable how hard ordering this has been..
I appreciate all the help everyone has so far given.

Thanks Andrew, but the left side part number points back to the right hand side when you try to order it in Toyotas software, which is what has them confused.

Andrew has listed two different part numbers. One should correspond to what you have, the other is what you need.

I called the dealer, and provided those part numbers and he told me neither exist. He asked where I got the numbers from, and when I told him, he said nope, we don't do JDM parts, have no listing for them.

The part number Toyota Aus have in their EPC lists a Left and Right with different part numbers, but when you try to order the left side, it points back to the right side part number.

The dealer says further investigation has found that apparently the Right side from a 2005 Rav is the same as the Right side of the current Prado, and for the Rav it also has a different Left side part number, which can be ordered, it doesn't point back to the Right side part number like the Prado does, so we have on of the Rav Left side coming Monday to see.
              Fingers crossed.

My dealer recognises the part numbers as provided above but the same issue. The LH part points to the RH.

Will wait for further info from him.

                Can the brackets be reversed?

I did think about reversing the brackets, but didnt try it. Whilst you could then clip the drip rail cover on, I don't think it will line up because the retaining clips are not central in the rectangular cover, they are off-set to the side.

I would love to know what part they fit to the Left side of the GX...Cannot believe it can be so difficult to order.
