  • ATF top up after cooler install?

Hey all - just installed a DC678 cooler with one of Tin's awesome brackets - hoses run and ready to connect up.

Wondering what other people have done with regards to auto trans fluid - do you need to add additional fluid into the system?
A few of the fluid flush threads suggest that there's a bit of process to get the levels right.

I was thinking to fill up the new cooler and hoses with genuine Toyota WS fluid before connecting it back up; less a bit of fluid to allow for expansion.

Not planning on flushing the AT fluid anytime soon as my 150 is 25,000kms old - very light duty up till now.
Will be taking it on a long trip with camper (Fraser, Cape, etc) so looking to keep the temps under control going forward.

Any advice / insight would be much appreciated

    That's what I would do.

I filled my cooler and hoses and then hooked them up. Levels were spot on afterwards,

That's what I did too. I used about 300 mL.

What is the correct fluid for a 2014 model? Do you need to get it from toyota, or would a place like repco stock it?

It's a special fully synthetic ATF and Toyota call it WS (short for world standard or something). I don't think you'll find the genuine stuff at Repco though but certainly from the parts counter at a local Toyota. I paid $70 recently for a 4 litre tin (here in the Pilbara). I've seen 1 litre bottles on ebay. My local dealer said 1 litre bottles are not available locally. Not sure if this rule is Australia wide.

Penrite do an equivalent ATF LV (many members here use it) as does Castrol (Transmax FE Multivehicle). Not sure what they cost but you may find these at a local Repco - on the shelf or through special order.

              Good luck...

If anyone near Artarmon in Sydney wants to buy a small amount I've got a 4l tin with a bit missing.
