I recently acquired a 2014 Prado and not sure of the full service history did a partial transmission oil change.
When I went to remove the drain plug however after cracking it loose it did not want to come out by hand... which was suspicious.
Upon refilling I went to torque the drain plug bolt up to 20Nm and it didn't even get that far, it was spinning and not gripping.
I tried to back it off but it didn't want to come out. I sort of felt good enough and I decided to refill with oil and see how it went. Luckily it's not leaking or dripping yet.
I think it might hold for a while but not for ever, and something will need to be done by the next transmission drain.
What is the usual strategy to fix this issue?
Is it usually the drain plug threads that strip or the sump plug threads?
I'm hoping it's the drain plug but I won't be sure until next time I drain the fluid or notice it leaking
