Has anyone had this happen ? I had approx 3/4 of a tank and about 300km on the clock, the computer reset itself as if i had just filled up, there was no sudden braking or accelerating.

Yep, we cant reset the fuel usage from fill up (centre console) as it automatically done but can reset everything else.
It does reset on the dash between the guages if needed though.
Ive never seen it as low as 4l/100 i pulled out of a servo carefully one day and got it down to around 5.5 over the next 2-3km.... a quick acceleration at the next light blew that out.
The trip computer still tells me anything between 9 and 10L/100 per tank regularly.... its a little bit out but usually not bad for a ballpark indication.2011 GXL D4D Auto | ARB Deluxe winch bar | Bilstein/Ridepro platinum lift | MT ATZ P3's | Dick Cepek Torque rims | Airtec snorkel | Lightforce Genesis 55w HID | GME UHF | 55w HID high beam | Rhino Rack bars & Cage | ISI extreme rack | Dual Optima Batteries | Milford MXV-70 cargo barrier | ARB onboard air | Prodigy P3 | Drawers & Black widow fridge slide | Waeco CF-50 | Kaymar rear bracket and LED light | EscapeGear seat covers | Sandgrabbas and more...

I randomly get a fuel consumption reset when restarting the vehicle if the tank is about 3/4 full and I was driving non stop for at least 1 hour. I can stop for a half hour lunch or overnight and get the reset. Never happens with short trips or if the tank is down to 1/2 full or below.
I have reported this at least 4 times when going in for a service or other warranty work. The Toyota guys have all shown disinterest.
I’ll take a leap of faith and believe the display computer is working correctly because all other functions always work ok. Therefore the display input ( the tank sender) probably reads higher after the vehicle is at rest for some time compared to when the vehicle was last being driven. If this is the case the computer will think the vehicle has been refueled.
This leads me to assume that the tanks are not equalising correctly either because of a faulty joining pipe between them or vacuum/pressure in one or both of the tanks.
Just described the problem to the local Toyota service guy (who I haven't been to before) and he hadn't heard of this problem. He suggested he would lodge a Dealer Product Report with Toyota head office.2009 150 series GXL D4D, graphite, Toyota tow bar, tint, mats, headlight and bonnet protectors, DIY toolbox under bonnet, DIY mudflap extensions, Uniden UHF with remore control microphone, Tekonsha P3 Prodigy, Anderson plug, reverse camera modifed to see towball.
