I got my diode in and the new batteries, best thing ever, no flat batteries because of small trips around town.

Thanks LeighW, I have recommended to some prado owners here to look and diode-ing there rigs as well, so hope you get some more sales.

So now my battery light has come on. The voltage booster was working fine yesterday with a small run to the shops and a 15 Min drive to the gym today and on start up at the gym the battery light came on.
      Anyone else had this?

Don't worry, it will no doubt be something simple. First on the list is some issue with something that you've recently changed, maybe the diode itself or the way it is installed. First test is to just put a fuse in and see what happens.

Yes, replace the fuse. If light goes out try the diode again. If light is on both ways pm Leigh. I don't think anyone has ever reported a problem.

              Thanks guys.
Tried both ways and have the original fuse back in, and it's back to normal.
Leighw was very fast with a response and as he said another diode is coming. Very helpful!

Received the new diode today! Put it in one way and the battery light came on, put it in the other way and the battery light went out straight away.
I'm sure its fine but I've taken it out for now because just after testing the new diode I had to take the Prado to Toyota to get a service and I didn't want to chance the battery light coming on again while its in their hands. Once I've driven around for a couple of days without the battery light coming on I'm sure I'll have the confidence to leave it in for the next service.
Thanks LeighW for being so fast and helpfull!

When the ambient temperature is low the standard setup will charge to a voltage of around 14.2v. If you use the diode fuse, this will give a boost of around 0.7v taking battery charge voltage to 14.9v when fully charged. Will this then not overcharge and heat up the battery, overcharging it causing damage and shortening its life?

If the ambient temperature is that low that the alternator will charge at 14.9V the
higher voltage is unlikely to hurt the battery you'll need the extra voltage to get some
charge into the battery, battery freezing might be more of a concern!

                                Cheers
