Peter,
Where talking the standard high compensation OEM alternators, these alternators charge at around 13.8V - 14V with the ambient around 20C. If your getting 14.2V@20C then you should be able to get away without the need to fit a booster.
I would expect to see that sort of voltage with a standard alternator, not the OEM high compensation type used in the 150.
If your getting that sort of voltage with an OEM alternator then it would appear it has a faulty regulator but as it is working to your benefit I wouldn't worry about it providing the voltage does reduce in higher ambient temperatures.
