To maximise your space now, you should buy bags that fit into the 3rd row space efficiently.
Some of the carry on luggage will fit in the foot well where the baby seats are.

I have one of these cargo carriers that slip into the hitch receiver in your towbar.
    http://hitchmate.com.au/cargocarrier.php

They are very versatile for carrying 'stuff'. However, you'll need a bicycle number plate which I'm not sure if you'll have time to get from RTA before your trip.
Once you get to the airport, you can store it inside the Prado.

Failing that, you will need to start researching fast on Pradopoint for a suitable roof rack. There are many options around depending on what you're going to use it for. I'd suggest a platform due to carpark height clearance issues.

a month with no starting in a 3 year old car. You guys can't seriously expect it to be ok? I personally would be locking up and disconnecting the battery. Sure they have jump packs but you really DON'T want to flatten that battery.

And that's the one I would be taking to the Airport! Did that a few times, drove the old car down from Newie and left the Prado in the garage.

We just got back yesterday from the USA. We used Hills Airport Shuttle for around $190.00 return for 2 x adults and 2 x kids to/from Kellyville inc luggage. I noticed one kids seat in the bus (Toyota Commuter) so they may be able to fit another. even if this option was $50-$100 dearer than parking I would still go down this path instead of leaving the Prado in long term parking. We were dropped off at our airlines departure entry and the driver was waiting to pick us up at arrivals.

With our previous Prado 2009 model GXL diesel we had a flat battery at the Emu Blue car park. We turned up early morning as the sun was rising. I turned on the interior light and didn't turn it off. 6 days later flat as a door nail. Interesting situation. Doors wouldn't unlock and battery 100% flat. No response from anything. Airport jumper pack went flat, due to diesel needing large supply to crank at the correct speed. 3 kids and wife walked to the nearby McDonalds so the kids could play safely. NRMA came quickly, they tried to jump start the car off 1 battery. It wouldn't start. They used 2 sets of jumper leads off 2 batteries and then it started, but not easily. It was quite a hassle and I wouldn't recommend it after a long day. I would disconnect the battery if I was going for while, especially with an older battery.

Yes. we did..I got 11K for 2008 model corolla with 59K kms and one month rego.

(It got some scratches in different places and I got a quote for $800 for painting..thinking of all these I have decided to trade in ..all other dealers were telling 9-10K but this dealer gave me the highest price..I should have made 1K by selling private..but no much time to sell privately and buy another one.)

I think you did alright to get 11k for the corolla. I wouldn't be upset.

i book a town car from the castle hill area to the international around $290-310 0carries my bags, meets me at the airport, paper beverage and an update of what's been going on in Sydney over the past period that I have been gone. Why would you leave your car in a public place for the cost of that type of convenience?

I sometimes leave the car at the airport for a week or two and am always worried that it won't start when I get back. Even if you turn everything off, some electrics do remain active in any modern car so it is a matter of time until it goes too flat to crank the engine. A month... I think you are rolling the dice.

Disconnecting the battery is an option, but that too can cause some problems. I think in my Prado the cameras need recalibrating or something silly like that. Who knows what else you need to reset properly. To get around this I am considering a solar trickle charger to make sure the battery stays fresh... very common on boats. Something like this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/PROJECTA-...5133364&_uhb=1

They all seem to have a cigarette lighter plug but if the key needs to be in the ACC position to turn it on then you won't be able to use it to charge the battery. I would suction it to the windscreen, run the cable out the door then under the bonnet and clamp it to the battery directly. I might also be tempted to throw a 2A fuse in line up near the battery clamp... just because I'm paranoid.

What if you get a space in the undercover car park?
