Best Aux Battery tray

I was going down the track of fitting the Aux battery in the rear and removing the 3rd row seats, however after consultation with my wife, it was decided they would stay in:sad:

So i will be fitting the second battery in the engine bay and would like some input as to what everyone thinks is the best battery tray for a V6 150.

Piranha or ARB seem to be good. I use a Piranha.

I'd personally recommend the ABR sidewinder tray for the petrol version. After lots of research i just completed installing mine a couple weeks back and very happy.

Did you have to move the mounting holes at all Dakrol? When mine was installed the battery was touching the guard so it had to be modded slighty.

I went with a slightly larger SuperCharge allrounder MRV50, and I must admit, it was a tight fit. I probably should move the mounting holes ever so slightly as the battery is either just touching or dam close to touching the guard.

what battery did you end up going with?

I have the Century MarinePro 620, went with it for the lighter weight and it's still a 75ah. The installers told me in the default position it was rubbing the guard, they ended up taking the tray out and shifting the mounting holes slightly to fix that.

I went with the ARB tray and D34 Optima Yellowtop awith redarc SBI12 - basically the full ARB kit, but from ebay and others at a cheaper cost (except the tray).

Pretty impressive how fast the D34 recharges, about 30-60mins and its full.

I dont know which tray is the best. But when I look through the Cracked inner guard thread, almost every prado with the cracks has an arb battery tray.
There could be something in that....or maybe ARB customers do more off roading that anyone else?

I haven't seen an ARB tray myself, but as stated earlier I would recommend the ABR (not ARB) Sidewinder for the petrol model as it takes into account a need for the power steering reservoir. Not sure how well the ARB unit suits the petrol variant.

I know Hutch swears by the TJM units, but that doesn't seem to be offered any longer.

Yes TJM tray only available for diesels now. I'm happy with the ABR Sidewinder tray so far and the rest of the dual battery gear I got from him, giving it a work out at the GTG this week.
