Electrical components near oil filter?

Hi, I have a Prado 150 diesel.

While removing the oil filter this afternoon I have heavily bent the blue electrical component next to it. I bent it back to re-fit the new filter but I'm wondering if anyone knows what this component is and if it would send me a warning light if it wasn't working?

Please see photo attached of filter and blue component.

That is a vacuum switching solenoid, looks like you have only damaged the wiring plug. It looks to me like it should be fine.

Did you know if you only use genuine oil filters you can get a socket type thing that fits the oil filter, then you use an extension bar and 3/8 ratchet to undo the oil filter. It is a genuine part, costs about $35 but worth its weight in gold, makes it impossible to damage that wiring or any other components close by. If you are interested I can get mine out of the tool box and pass on the part number.

Thanks AussieAndy, looks like I got out unscathed. I did buy one of those filter removers (part # 0922807501) but the mob I bought the car off had a non genuine filter so had to use the old way, plus it was done up as tight as possible. Looking fwd to using it next time as it looks like it makes the process a lot easier than this time!
