  • Auxiliary Battery- Best Type Limited space

My Dual Battery System is 4 years old and after a few days in high country and new fridge freezer in use found flat batteries.Running Redarc solenoid. Can't work out how both batteries went flat with this.
Time to replace Auxiliary and after replacement with limited space(Have ABR Sidewinder tray- recommend 10inch). Anyone running 100amp in this tray or is better to buy new tray to allow better battery to be installed. Currently running century deep Cycle NS 70M.

Im running this battery and it just fits. I needed to bend the aircon pipe a little and move the mounting bracket by about 0.5mm.
I can comfortably run my 60lt ARB fridge for days without having any problems.

Im also using a Redarc BCDC 1225 charger and im very happy with my setup

      Hey,

Sounds like the solenoid gate is stuck in the open position. This happens with all solenoids occasionally. You could measure the current with a ring clamp meter before and after the redarc with engine on and off. You could also use a led light on the bypass switch circuit to test it.

I have seen this happen with a redarc before, the vsr part would keep the solenoid engaged regardless of voltage. The unit had done it from new but the owner had taken a couple of years to get someone to sort it.

Thanks for the tip/s. Will check it out and then get new battery. Exide Deep cycle looks like a suitable one for a tight fit.
