2014 GXL stereo - forgetting "random everything" setting when ignition is turned off

Has anyone else noticed that their GXL stereo forgets the "random" mode it is in when you turn the ignition off?

I made up a CD of MP3 files and put it on "random everything" (for what of a better term - press "Rand" until the folder sign shows on the button). All works well - I get music from all the different folders on the CD. But once I have turned the car off it seems to go back to the random mode where it looks only at the current folder - I have to press the Rand button again to get it back how it was.

It had me puzzled for a while - I couldn't work out why the same song kept playing each time I was in the car. Turns out there were only 2 songs in the folder and it kept swapping between them. I've only got a 5min drive to work so it wasn't immediately obvious - just a vaguely unsettling!

Not quite the same problem as you mate, but mine always seems to reset back to the start of a song/track everytime I turn the car back on. Got it hooked up via bluetooth, and normally play long live sets (DJ Sets), and it always goes back to the start of the hour/2 hour long track. Spend most of my trips listening to the intro's again and again... Anyone have any idea how to disable this, or is this a standard thing? Galaxy s5, 2013 GXL via bluetooth with pocketcasts and music player

Turns out it also forgets the random mode when you make/receive a phone call...

I asked Chatswood Toyota when I had the car serviced last week - they must have amazing training for their staff. The guy said, with a straight face, that it wasn't a problem because all the other cars they tested did the same thing. Because they all act the same it isn't a problem.

Amazing logic - as a software engineer I wish I could use that with customers!! Of course they are all the same - it's a bug in the software of the CD player. By his logic there is no such thing as a software bug because any fault will be present in every car.

it is not a software bug!
It's and unexpected feature!
that's the line i use at work.
Seems to work sometimes
