Hi guys, I have a 2010 Prado 150 D4D and have just noticed the fuel gauge doing strange things. I filled it up the other day and after driving for sometime the fuel gauge got down to 3/4 full and then lower as I drove further, all good so far. It was just above 1/2 full when I stopped driving for the day and when I got back in I noticed it was back at 3/4 full again, I then drove a couple of hours and it when down to nearly 1/2 again. Today I drove it again and it was on 3/4 full. It's only done 114,000 kms surely it can't be too much. Has anyone else heard of this happening? Cheers

Diesels are pretty consistent with fuel usage (towing aside). I tend to use my odometer/trip meter to decide when I fill up. I have done so ever since my old 80 series got stuck at 1/4 tank and I ran out of fuel.2010 Prado GX 3.0L TD - "Paul" - TJM XGS 40mm Lift Kit, Firestone Coilrite Airbags, 5000kg Rated Front Recovery Points, Sure Power Battery Isolator and Dual Battery Setup, Airtec Snorkel, HID High Beam Headlights.

hi all I am new to this forum and have had this problem. I first noticed it when I change the exhaust over on my 09 Kakadu. for shits and giggles when I filled up next I tried rocking the car once I had filled the tank and noticed that there was a big air lock and I have a feeling this is what was causing the fuel gauge to play silly buggers. I didn't have any problems with the fuel gauge dropping and rising after that

Mine has been doing this for the last 100,000km. The gauge works for the first 1/4 and then drops to 1/2. It then works again when 1/2 fuel used. Sometimes it bounces a bit between the 2 points.
I have had both senders and cluster replaced. Still no joy.
The regional rep has looked at it (in December) and I am still waiting for Toyota to book it in to do something about it.Silver 150 GXL V6 Auto: TJM T13 bull bar, Avenger Mako TDS 9.5 winch, 2" lift - Bilstein shocks King springs, factory tow bar, Piranha battery tray, Red Arc isolator, E-Nex DC24MF battery, GME TX3540 UHF, ARB 47L fridge, ARB fridge slide, IPF spotties, Tekonsha P3 brake controller
