Hey guys,
So I noticed last night that my back lighting for the switches, radio and AC control panel are not lighting up when lights are turned on.
First thing I did was to check fuses, found only slightly blown 7.5A panel fuse, replaced it, blew after Couple of seconds.
So out cam my fuse saver to start looking for a short. With the 10amp fuse saver plugged in, it first would last for about 10 seconds but the radio still didn't have backlights then the fuse saver would pop.
I haven't got anything tapped Into the lighting circuit and it's not a dead short as its lasting different lengths of time before popping the fuse.
I found the connectors in the kickpanels were slightly corroded so I cleaned them up and reconnected.....the fuse saver didn't pop after about 10 minutes, so I thought all good. Put a 10A fuse in, couple of hours later going for a drive and thought I would turn the lights on, pop goes the fuse.
So has anyone had something similar? I have a feeling it may be module or my cluster drawing too much current. It's not a dead short like a wire chopped through, I have unplugged the radio, AC controls and still pops the fuse saver. Help would be greatly appreciated.
I have only just notice this issue as I haven't done much night driving, but i know they were all working fine about 3 months ago. All I have done since owning the Prado is fit a bullbar bar with LED park lights ( disconnected them) fitted a UHF ( disconnected this)
I'm getting confused......thanks in advance
