2012 VX Prado won’t start after BCDC install

I hope someone can provide some advice:

I Installed a BCDC1225D in my Prado 2012 VX today and the car no longer starts.

Everything is installed correctly (checked this over and over over again) every termination is correct. All chassis grounds (BCDC and both batteries) are connected to chassis and have continuity (0.2ohms approx including meter leads)

the cranking battery is sitting at 12.5v approx
the aux sitting at 13.8v approx

dash lights and all electrical functions of the vehicle appear to work with acc on however, flashing engine light and 4LO light and if I attempt to start the car just clicks once and starts the acc sequence again.

The redarc has no fault lights displayed and has normal flashing light for the charging profile indicating it’s in standby mode which is normal.

please help if possible!!!?!!?!??

Without photos, we have no idea how you have wired it.

However, figure 2.7.2 is a bit deceptive for the uninitiated. The BCDC's red wire is ADDED to the starter battery's positive terminal - leave the standard heavy starter cable etc connected. I would leave the BCDC's blue wire disconnected for the time being. Initially, pull out the fuse (or pop it if it is a resettable circuit breaker) between the BCDC and the Aux battery.

All connections as per redarc wiring diagram shipped with the unit. Redarc showing no faults.

aux battery + connected to brown
main battery + connected to red
solar input + connected to yellow

bcdc ground to chassis
aux battery negative to chassis
main battery negative to chassis

All standard positive and negative connections left in place on cranking battery.

have left blue wire of BCDC disconnected.
Have left orange of BCDC disconnected and charger is indicating charging profile A as a result which is correct.

what happens if u disconnect the dc charger

Have removed all fuses from fuse holders between redarc and batteries so the redarc is effectively disconnected except the ground. The car still doesn’t crank.

Try using your aux battery as the starting battery.

Just because your starting battery is at 12.5V doesn't mean it is capable of starting the engine. Those indications sound very much like not enough grunt to start the engine. Try a jump start.

So what code is being thrown with the ECU light on? Likely the issue isnt in your charger.

Have worked out the issue (with Redarc’s tech support assistance)...

the original un-tampered terminals on the primary battery decided to develop a bit of a resistive join while work was going on, the terminals had a coating which had dried and seemed to be resistive rather than conductive. A bit of fine sandpaper over the terminals seems to have got it cranking again, I’ll replace them though.
