OK, so I have seen that people are mounting their DCDC chargers behind the grill in an effort to provide a cooler environment & overcome the de-rating associated with temperature. My Ctek has a temperature sensor that is recommended to be mounted on the battery to be charged. So, wouldn't the temperature de-rating be a result of the temperature being reported by that sensor, and not the temperature of the charger?

Battery temperature monitoring while charging is to prevent overcharging damage to the battery and is not what I would consider derating.
If a DCDC charger derates its output due to ambient temperature I would think that is more a consequence of the charger itself not being made to handle higher ambient temperatures so derates to prevent an internal failure.
Possibly someone with specific knowledge about DCDC chargers may provide detailed information.
