  • roo systems flash tuning

i got a marketing email from some mob connected to roo systems on flash tuning for hilux and prado's. Usual claims, more power, less fuel, less turbo lag, makes you better in bed, blah blah blah, but not much info on what they do or costs.

Anyone had this done that can fill in some blanks

I was just in touch today with Roo systems. They informed me there R&D is almost complete on the 1GD-FTV and they have already seen approximately a 35% increase in torque and power which means the new 2.8l would be running at 175kw and 607nm of torque. Apparently this is within the Toyota safety spec for the ECU and would not void warranty. Supposedly the flash can not been seen by Toyota unless they scrutinize the ECU program. Total cost is $1695. If all this is true then the 2.8 would become an awesome setup.
2018 150 Series Crystal Pearl Prado VX 2.8l. 2 inch King springs and Bilstein shocks, Airtek TJM snorkel.

You can get the same gains from the 1KD, around 150kw and 550nm - very similar power band. Same price.

Did they mention they do anything with the EGR or DPF? I am pretty happy with the power in the 2.8 but would like to be able to bypass these two things and potential downstream reliability issues...

They did say those things can be done but are considered illegal. We do need to consider that the crap that builds up in the engine and DPF filter are not released into the atmosphere. Would really hate to be breathing that in...

Are these gains attributable to ecu reflash with or without exhaust? Does Roo systems have a Melbourne dealer?

Do you have a 2.8l or 3l diesel?

Look up Agritune, remapping and EGR delete. Similar prices, I'll be doing it when I have the spare $$$$$

                              Cheers Brad.
