Re: Diesel Fuel Economy
From 8.80L/100km (almost all highway) to 10.98L/100km (almost all around town). I find that the in dash readout is about 0.6-0.8L/100km under reading. I am pretty light on the pedal but the other half can be a little heavy from time to time.
I have found that temperature makes a fair bit of difference on fuel economy. I have kept logs of fuel economy on my last 3 diesels and in the winter I get around 10-15% better fuel economy. Makes sense as the air is cooler, therefore denser and I don't tend to run the aircon quite as much I suppose.
For those of you who have an iPhone, download 'Road Trip Lite' from the App Store. It is excellent for keeping tabs on fuel economy. The full version lets you keep records for more than one car, and for more than just fuel.
WRT the fuel light and range readout. Just the other day I ran down to 0km, and then about 10km past that to then put in 140.07L. So I'm pretty happy with around 100km in reserve.
Cheers!
