As stated in my earlier post there is a TSB for the plastic panel under the wipers and the plastic tap removal on the A pillar should also be known to the dealer.

Yep, me too

I will enquire at the first service about the causes.

About 25K I noticed the rumble noise and engine shudder at just above the 1500 RPM. I mentioned it at my 30k service and they kind of fobbed me off. Said that they cleaned the MAF sensor and told me to only use BP diesel. However the 150 ran like a dream after the service. But after 2000 KMs it started again.
Here's what I've worked out. There are two issues - Cause and effect - there is a shudder in the engine and this triggers a VERY loud vibration in the air intake system. Toyota have "unofficially" done a mod to my 150 where the air intake goes through into the wheel arch. The air filter box rattles and it reverbs into those big panels on the mud guard and creates this loud metallic rattle that goes through everything. Sun glasses, coins and everything loose in the car goes ballistic. The mod they did worked well. The rattle has gone away however the engine shudder is still there. I've told my dealer I'm not happy and I'm not about to go away any time soon. They've promised to look into it. Their head mechanic came for a drive with me and admitted there is a problem and that it's not right. My son's 120 with the same 4D4 engine doesn't shudder.
So if anyone has an update I'd be happy to hear about it, and as I get results from my dealer I'll post an update on my saga.

My understading through discussions here in this forum is that the conclusion was that it is not the motor but poor design of the intake in the inner guard causing resonance within the inner guard and thus vibration.

I also believe that it is reverb in the guard.
As soon as i installed the snorkel it is now gone.2012 Pearl Altitude-D4DWindcheetah platform, Foxwing, TJM T13 bar,TMax winch, TJM sidesteps and bars, Outback drawers, Optima Yellow top, HR towbar, TX3540 UHF, GME Aerial, Airtec Snorkel, Lukey stainless muffler, 2inch lift, DVSR dual battery, MSA dropslide, HD ERPS, Cooper S/T maxx, Sandgrabbas, 40L engel, Lightforce XGT's, ChipIT, Provent 200, Racor R20T, Auto Cooler, Wetseat Covers, Roadsafe recovery points.

Hi Everyone,
I'm still having "issues" re the vibe. Toyota fixed the loud metallic rattle but the vibe is alive and well.
Very tiring on a long trip. You know when you've been on a boat all day and you go to bed that night you can still feel the boat moving. Well I get into bed and I can still feel my feet vibrating from the vibe coming through the floor boards.
A few people have recommended fitting a snorkel. I was thinking of doing that anyway and if it fixes the vibe issue then that's a bonus. I notice folks are saying they fitted a Safari snorkel but I prefer the look of the TJM snorkel - has anyone fitted the TJM? Did it fix the Vibe issue? Thanks everyone.

WOW. 19 pages of posts about the old rattle at 1500-1700 rpm. I have had mine into the local dealer a few times with no rattle or no location of it. Well bugger me, I fixed it myself. The inner plastic lining of the drivers side guard/wheel arch have plastic gromets fitting it to the body. My car has done 43000kms and those grommets are getting loose or worn. I packed some 1"x1" 6mm single sided adhesive high density foam pieces between the plastic and the body. Holy crap. The rattle is gone. No matter what teh rev range, all gone.Had a 2006 GXL, liked it so much bought a 2008 GXL. Liked the 150 so I bought a black 2010 GXL. Liked them even more and bought 12/2012 GXL. Must like Prado
