Hi everyone, you guys have a great site. I'm over in the United States and own a 2011 Toyota 4Runner. I was curious if someone who owns a 2010 or 2011 Prado with the (1GR-FE) 4.0 V-6 petrol engine with the Dual VVT-i would be willing to post the 2 or 3 pages out of their owners manual that tells about the recommended engine oil and the recommended viscosities. Over here it's getting to be all about fuel economy and Toyota recommends 0W-20 for our 4Runners, but it says that under high speeds or extreme loads a higher viscosity oil may be better (but it doesn't say what viscosity). I'm just assuming that you guys are fortunate enough to be given a list in your owners manual of different viscosities of oil that are recommended according to the temperature. This is how it used to be here, but now they just keep dropping the recommended viscosity to try for better fuel economy. Since we have the exact same engine I figure this would a good way to find out what I can run in mine as I would like to use a higher viscosity than the 0W-20. I just want to make sure it is the specs from the models that have the Dual VVT-i (2010 or 2011 150 series, I think thats right) because I'm not sure if the oil requirements changed when they went to the Dual VVT-i (I doubt it, but I just want to be sure).
Sorry for the long post, but if someone could do this I would greatly appreciate it.
