Why would I buy an Altitude over a VX?

Hypo exactly what I was thinking and even to the point of crossing to ford for a territory titanium bang for your buck it's just more......unless some real world figures from Toyota dealers hit the table....and yes the can of worms is open now but seriously how many prado's sold get off road to take up that "off road" ability that's above and beyond the fords or any other make for that matter

When we get ours we are going to put it in a glass display for all future generations to see that it is possible to get a Prado from Toyota.

Dont take offence at it , in general "most" 4x4 sold wont see any offroad except driving the kids to the soccer/football ground and parking it on the footpath.

Hey seriously we dont all have loads of money sitting around to buy a 4x4 at lets say $70k then take it off road and scratch (yeah no biggy but to some it is) or break things like the transfer case (in another thread and then get charged $2k by toyota for what a $400 part/s hey its not just toyota that over charges I know)

I was highlighting the fact a carsales person could only use "but thats not a real 4x4", when it comes down to it , the bang for your buck for 99% of drivers out there , toyota seems to have dropped the ball with inclusions and updates. Just an observation of two women looking at the two cars..both said the toyota looks old on the inside.

Either way happy 4x4'ing not just footpath hoping

I will be going 4wding in whichever vehicle I purchase. Already booked Fraser Island in for April. What I was wondering though is if I can get a VX for 72 and a Altitude for 69 why would I buy the Altitude.

Hypo I was referring to the comment from BJ re a ford territory, it is hardly in the same league as a Prado.
As for delimna it probably really comes down to KDSS and 18 inch wheels, do u want to pay for them as the other differences would be minimal.

Yes - Pricing should be interesting.
I know what I can buy a GXL & VX for.
If the Altitude is priced in the middle of those I will be happy.

Been playing dumb with dealers, increase on GXL (RRP) varied from $7k to 10K. Landcruiser 200 Altitude was $8K on top of GXL.

SCI Fleet dude gave a tentative drive away of Low to Mid $70K, this was without doing any wheeling and dealing. Find out Monday.

I have a gut feeling the Altitude models have started to hit Aus, and like the new Camry they where held back until a national release date. Build dates we saw were for early Jan so should be Mid to late Feb delivery.

From what I heard earlier in the week the first shipment is already here (Jan Build) and currently sitting on the end of a wharf somewhere while they build up stock levels to meet the release date. Could be fact or fiction but I am told they can have my reserved one ready to drive away week after next?? Time and pricing will tell.

Spoke with a Brisbane dealer today sussing out delivery. He gave me the indication still looking at a March delivery date. Interesting observation, GXL build 7th Jan sitting in the yard. Most Altitude had a build date commencing Jan 2012. Kendo my Pradoman senses are tingling I think your onto something, any information on Area 51 while your at it?

Naenae, Area 51 does exist. However at this stage it only houses the "aliens" and the even more mysterious "altitude" pricing.

All will be disclosed on Monday .... or maybe not!
